Exclusive: Google Purchases Sign-Up Page Discovered
Earlier in the week we pointed to some interesting unannounced Google sub-domains discovered by Tony Ruscoe. With much rumour of an upcoming Google Payment service (a.ka. Google Wallet) to rival PayPal, the most notable of the new sub-domains were purchases.google.com, and purchase.google.com.
After some exploring, I managed to find the actual sign up form for a service Google have coined "Purchases".
Welcome to Purchases
Welcome back, email. Before using Purchases, we need to know a little more about you. Please enter the additional information below.
If you want to use the Purchases service as part of a separate Google Account, click here . (Note: you can only be logged into one Google Account at a time)
To see the page you need to login to your regular Google account, and then go here, you'll then be presented with a form to upgrade your account to Google "Purchases".
Although the sign up form doesn't appear to be functional and is vague on details concerning the what the service offers, it does ask for a credit card number suggesting this indeed could be Google's upcoming payment service.
Update: The sign-up form does appear to work if you have a US address, unfortunately that excludes me. Anyone from the US care to comment on what's behind the curtain?
Update: Seems Google have now removed the page. If anything, this proves they have something worth hiding. If you missed it, here is a user posted screenshot of the page
